Just a short 90 minute train journey to Shenzhen, although to the opposite end of the city from our last time here when we stayed in the hustle and bustle of the financial and business district.

I must admit to being a bit confused when I booked the hotel described as being near to “Sea World”. I was expecting to be near a theme park with killer whales etc and it seemed strange when the area was described as having a lot of bars and restaurants.
So after checking in and a quick freshen up we strolled down to Sea World to find a tourist area full of eateries and bars. Not an Orca in sight!

The tourist information also mentioned a ship nearby and I said to Gary and Diane, “perhaps a pirate ship?”.
Wrong again, it turned out to be a small liner that was obviously moored up and then the land around it was reclaimed as it was 400m from the sea.

The ship had been converted into a dozen or more fancy restaurants with Chinese and Western cuisine available.
We followed the path to the seafront and strolled slowly in the bright sunshine.

We all agreed it was a great place as we sipped a cold beer before heading back to our hotel.
See you all tomorrow,
