Day 16 – April 4th – Haikou

Haikou

Haikou has many European style streets with covered walkways, a real boon in the heat, it was 34C today.

Outside our hotel
Beautifully presented fruit in the local shops
Many buildings well preserved
In the old quarter
Wine bar

We found possibly the smallest wine bar in the world. just a small window in a door!

A head popped out the door and passed us the wine list, some very nice and expensive wines on offer as we sat at the 2 small tables outside with electric scooters whizzing past.

In the old town streets
Dibs pizza club

Fancying something different for lunch we headed to a pizza restaurant and were surprised to find it was owned by a guy from Croydon and his Chinese girlfriend.

Terrific pizzas as well all traditionally made and super tasty.

Outside our rooms on the 4th floor
Nice restaurants by the sea

So after a hot but enjoyable day in the old town we went out in the evening to a place recommended by the pizza restaurant owner.

Sharky bar and restaurant
Dinner!

Some well cooked lamb chops with broccoli and creamy mashed potato ended our day.

There were plenty of local places to eat but on this day we ended up with western food for a change and very nice it was as well.
